Did George Bush slip up in his National Geographic Channel Interview?

At around the 25 minute mark of the show (including commercials) Bush discusses his landing at Barksdale Air Force base in Louisiana. He describes an interaction with the driver of the car that picked him up after he exited Air Force One. The kid was going about 100 miles an hour and President Bush jokingly said, "Al Qaeda isn't here son, you can slow down." Then at around the 29 minute mark of the show, Bush has been relocated to Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. Referring to 9/11 Bush says, "My question was who did it?" He remarks that the head of the CIA George Tenet believed it was Al Qaeda, but that Tenet, "wasn't that definitive yet." Bush then says that,"his FIRST indication that it was Al Qaeda was in this CIA meeting in Offutt."

Can anyone explain this contradiction to me? Was Bush lying about the joke he told to the driver at Barksdale or is he lying about the fact that he first believed that it could be Al Qaeda in Offutt? Am I the only one who caught this?Did George Bush slip up in his National Geographic Channel Interview?
Has he ever not slipped up when he opens his mouth? What a comedian! He and Rumsfelt gave us a lot of laughs.Did George Bush slip up in his National Geographic Channel Interview?
As for the joke, I don't see it as a slip up. Al Qaeda had been a big topic even during Clinton's presidency. They had already carried out some attacks against US embassies overseas, and were considered quite dangerous due to the history and charisma of their leader and founder, Osama Bin Laden.

So as for Tenet's comments, I still don't see a problem.

Watching the coverage on 9/11/01, MY first thoughts were "Al Qaeda did this" even BEFORE there was any confirmation or the initial message from Al Qaeda claiming responsibility. Even the reporters were saying Al Qaeda was an obvious suspect. So yeah, I would expect Tenet's comments to the president to basically be "I think Al Qaeda did this but I don't have anything definitive yet."
