Honestly, we will definitely become like Italy very soon. Most kids in this country are obsessed with becoming the kind of d-bags you see on Entourage and think it's uncool to be smart or educated.



The Chinese have no problem with it. We listen to Little Wayne and think partying is everything, while they work on ways to undercut us and steal the technology from whatever industry we have left.



Look at Latin America and Italy for a glimpse of our future. Gomorrah the movie and Shadow Soldiers on National Geographic paint excellent pictures of what this country will be like soon.



Yes, I know, people will come out and say, "Why are you still here...blah blah, America is the greatest."



Not for long buckos! Future economic growth will involve building massive slums and dumping our poor off in them. Hey, at least you can apply for the great security and police jobs patrolling them. Sounds like fun, huh?When did America turn into a nation of unintelligent, shallow people?
With the advent of right wing talk radio. We became a nation of obedient listeners instead of informed voters. Using the old radio tactic of screening out callers with informative disagreements and turning off the volume on those that manage to sneak through the process, the hosts set themselves up to sound like fonts of wisdom and knowledge, when they are in fact stifling debate.



The marketplace of ideas was over run, and liberal talk radio will have a hard time finding critical thinkers. People are now used to being instructed.

Not long after they created the Department of Education. Look it up. Test scores have been going down ever since then. And the decline in critical thinking abilities is a result of specialized education rather than the old system of making everybody learn a little bit about everything.When did America turn into a nation of unintelligent, shallow people?

In essence it is the media. Society dictates the people from birth through a set of invisible memes.

I really think that trend is coming to an end... culture comes in waves and I think the days of frivolity for frivolity sake is coming to an end.

Whilst the more level headed of the populace are spending their time getting a good education and actually planning to have children for which they will care for, and, be able to provide for, the more reckless young rednecks are breeding like rabbits!

When you consider that 77% of Americans 18-35 cite "The daily show" as their primary news source, this truth becomes self evident.

This nation is not as bad as you make it out to be. We are not perfect we have faults; yet this nation is a damn good place to live. I suggest you go live in some areas that I was deployed to and have lived in; you might reconsider how much you hate this nation.



PS: I don't see Americans hoping on doors and floating to Cuba to get a better life.
